Ahem. I am so sorry.
As this is probably my last summer in Ireland for... well, at least a summer, I'm packing in as much ridiculous shit as possible to give myself a proper send-off. The list currently stands as follows. (Yes, I'm aware that I occasionally dA as a glorified to-do list. Shush you, it keeps me focused)
- I start rehearsals for Measure for Measure tomorrow. I am playing Luccio, a complete fop and general badman who spends most of his time in a nice suit chasing women. This is not me being typecast. Show's on in June, if you happen to be about, be about.
- I am also invigilating Leaving Certificate exams, which involves me looking stern at 17 year olds for four hours and then messing around with envelopes.
- I have to get three more fundraisers in before the show, and then I move on to fundraising for... wait for it... a fucking 80k charity cycle in August to go to Electric Picnic, Ireland's most fun festival. I've never been to a festival, and I cannot wait. However, it is 80 kilometres (a good 65 miles) so I am going to go into some intensive training... or quite possibly just cycle a bit and pray I don't suffer a massive coronary. If anyone out there fundraises, do send suggestions of imaginative ways of stealing money.
- The chapbook (with it's schmexy artwork, see below) is away with the publishers. I'm going to see what the craic is with getting it available up here as well, if people would be interested in buying.
- After that (sigh, I apologise for the nerd-out) I want to submit a few stories to the Black Library. Fanfiction is not something I indulge in often, but they're very good at looking after their writers, and short story authors have been known to get novel deals. Plus, there is a part of that loves giant explosions and world-eating aliens. So there.
- After THAT (and I'm in tears at this point) I want to get a story in the second Machine of Death anthology. I urge you all to try too, it's a story based on the premise of 'it takes a blood sample and tells you simply how you will die. However, what it says is open to interpretation.' Full details here.
machineofdeath.net/- After that... well, there's the festival, (which I can't wait for) a myriad of other submissions I want to do, and then I may just curl up and sleep. Stick looking for a job abroad somewhere in that too.
Sigh.
Now, I would urge you all to have a look at these two very talented artists. The first's artwork is decorating my chapbook
Silencing the Light and her images absolutely blow me away with their capturing of key images from my stories. Give your following love to
